Church and Tenant Empowerment Worker
Work with Hope into Action: Coventry
About the role
We are looking for someone to join the Coventry team for 8 hours a week as an Empowerment Worker, supporting one house and one partner church.
As an Empowerment Worker, you will meet regularly with tenants, offering practical support and encouragement as they work through a range of challenges and goals. You will also aim to build strong relationships with church leaders and volunteers, helping them play an active role in supporting the people we house.
A living and active Christian faith is essential. You will contribute to the spiritual life of the organisation through prayer, retreats and shared team time, and will bring both professional excellence and spiritual passion to your work.
We strive to be inclusive and love diversity, valuing the unique skills, strengths, knowledge and experience each person brings. While this role is based at the Halo Centre, hybrid working is available. Becoming one of our team may offer you opportunities to realise your potential as well as helping us to raise our performance in empowering those we serve. As part of the wider HIA network there is additional support and expertise available, and you will be expected to join regional and national events, training and retreats where possible.
About you
You will be someone with a passion for the homeless, the church, and our values. You are someone who sees the potential in others and have an ability to empower others to realise their potential. You will have public speaking skills, be able to engage volunteers and keep them enthused. You will have good listening skills and be able to work in a small flexible team.
Although a driver’s licence or car is not essential, you will need to be able to arrange your own travel for face to face tenant meetings, be able to accompany tenants to appointments and be able to join the rest of the Coventry Team at the Halo Centre for team meetings.
A demonstrable understanding and commitment to the mission and values of Hope into Action is essential. It is therefore an Occupational Requirement (Schedule 9 part 1 of the Equality Act 2010) of this post to have a committed Christian faith. This post requires an Enhanced DBS check with barred lists.
Please contact us if you would like to have an informal conversation about this position. Email coventry@hopeintoaction.org.uk and Jo Locke-Wheaton or Becky Clarke (Franchise Managers) will be in touch.
